Residence Halls closed
6:00 PM December 18, 2009 through 9:00 AM January 12, 2010


The Department of Housing & Residence Life wishes you a safe and happy holiday season.

All residence halls, including Davis Apartments, Luntsford, and Centennial Halls, will officially close at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 18.  Graduates or students who have obtained permission from the RD/ARD may stay no later than Saturday, December 19  at 6 p.m.

Note:  Buccaneer Ridge and Buccaneer Village remain open and accessible to students through the winter break

Please be advised that the University campus may experience water, power, telephone, cable and /or internet outages during the break as a result of planned maintenance /unexpected complications. 

The University has prepared contingency plans for such emergencies; however, it is strongly advised that residents should plan for alternative housing for the break, if possible.

All residents, before leaving for Winter Break, please do the following:

1. Clean room by removing trash, washing dishes, properly store food and discard perishable items

2. Clean, defrost, and unplug refrigerator where possible

3. Unplug all unnecessary appliances.

4. Remove plants and fish, if applicable

5. Report any repairs, especially water leaks, to your RD/ARD/RA

6. Close and lock door/windows

7. Close all blinds

8. Sign-out at the front desk or with RA

9. Residents are encouraged to take any items of significant value home with them.

The Housing staff/Public Safety will conduct fire/safety checks in all rooms. 
The University is not responsible for loss/damage to property.

Residents enrolled at ETSU for Spring 2009, please note:

• Please be reminded that your current housing contract on file is for Fall ’09 and Spring ’10.

• Please be aware that a change of roommate is possible during the winter break.

Residents not returning to the University for Spring 2009, please do the following:

1. Visit the DHRL to complete a “Request to Cancel Housing/Advantage Contract” form as soon as possible.

2. Schedule a check-out time with an RA/RD/ARD

3. Remove all personal items from your room

4. Check for damages

5. Complete and sign IIA card (Green Card)

6. Return key to RA/RD/ARD, noting on IIA card the date and time the key was personally returned.

7. Have ID deactivated by staff.

FAILURE TO PROPERLY CHECK-OUT BY FOLLOWING THE ABOVE STEPS,  MAY RESULT IN AN ASSESSMENT AGAINST YOUR DEPOSIT.

Halls will be closed until 9 AM. Tuesday, January 12, 2010.  The DHRL will not be able to accommodate check-ins prior to this time. 

If you are unable to return by 6 p.m. on Thursday,  January 14, 2010,  please notify the DHRL or RD/ARD of your late arrival in order for us to hold your assignment.

EAST TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED FROM DECEMBER 24, 2009 through JANUARY 1, 2010

Residents needing arrangements for all or part of Winter Break please note the following:

1. Visit the DHRL to sign-up for arrangements by noon, Thursday December 15, 2009. 

2. Read and adhere to break guidelines as given to you at the time you sign-up.

3. No Card Access will be granted unless they are signed-up for the break

THERE IS A FEE FOR BREAK HOUSING!

Please consult the daily rate on the Housing Rent Rates form for you particular room and assignment type.  Winter Break Housing will be billed at the daily rate.

Residents who are changing rooms over the break:
