Students are recognized at East Tennessee State University for their outstanding work in both academics
as well as campus involvement.

Academic Honors

Academic recognition can be achieved through invitations to campus honor societies. Students are strongly encouraged to accept all invitations to honor society membership. Sometimes several invitations can arrive in one semester (particularly in the junior year) resulting in several membership dues needing to be paid. Should payment of dues become an issue in joining, please contact the faculty advisor to the group or the Center for Student Life and Leadership. Many times arrangements can be made to work out such problems with advance notice. Honor Societies can provide future scholarship opportunities, career networks, leadership opportunities, conference travel, and special regalia to be worn at graduation.

An Honors Convocation is held each spring in April for those students achieving outstanding academic work in their departments. Colleges invite their outstanding students to attend.
