Recruitment Week Overview
Fall 2013
Wednesday, September 4 - Sunday, September 8
Participation in our fall membership selection process is a wonderful opportunity for you to take a closer look at the NPC sororities at ETSU --Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Kappa Delta, and Sigma Kappa -- and to ask questions regarding sorority life.
Formal Recruitment is the main process the National Panhellenic Conference sororities at ETSU use to recruit new members. This week consists of four rounds of events that allow potential new members the opportunity to learn about each sorority as well as what it means to join a sorority. During recruitment events, women will have the time to ask questions about sorority activities, financial obligations, new member programs, scholarship, community service, and sorority life in general.
Formal recruitment is a mutual selection process. Just as you will be deciding what sorority is good for you, the members will be deciding who will make a good fit for them. Each chapter has its own set of membership criteria that may include grade point average, high school and community activities, and leadership potential. How a sorority chooses its members is a part of its ritual and is not openly disclosed. Remember that participation in recruitment does not guarantee an invitation to join a sorority, nor does it obligate a woman to join.
