As expected, becoming a member of our Greek community involves a financial, academic, and time commitment. Our chapters are diligent in their efforts to make the cost of joining a fraternity or sorority affordable. Cost alone should not be a determining factor for choosing membership in fraternity or sorority. Feel free to ask questions during recruitment regarding your personal financial, academic, and time obligation to a chapter.
In order for a potential member to participate in a recruitment or intake process, a first-time university student must have a 2.5 GPA from high school, or must have a 2.5 GPA based on a minimum of 12 hours from a university or college and be enrolled full time at East Tennessee State University. While our office requires students to have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA, each chapter has their own local or national guidelines which may require a higher GPA. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life oversees the grade verification of very individual prior to the participation in any recruitment or intake process.
The following are estimated costs of joining a fraternity or sorority. Please note cost varies from organization to organization.
