Requested Documents
Thank you for your interest in the Upward Bound program.  To be considered for the Upward Bound program, students must meet the eligibility requirements, must fill out an application during our recruitment time period, and must be interviewed by ETSU Upward Bound permanent staff members.

Who is eligible for Upward Bound?
There are 145 students in our program from Cloudland, Unaka, Hampton, Happy Valley, Elizabethton, Johnson County, Unicoi County, Washington County, and Sullivan County High Schools. Students must meet at least one of the following criteria in order to be accepted into the program: 1) family income meets federal guidelines, and/or 2) neither parent obtained a degree from a four-year college.  Students start the three/four-year program in the beginning of their freshman or sophomore year and remain in the program until they begin their college career.

What is involved with filling out the application?
We ask that each student who is interested in becoming a part of this program to submit an application no later than the date announced for their particular school.  The application asks for basic student information, a copy of their current high school schedule, a transcript release form, and finally a copy of the parent's 1040 Tax information (for federal income guidelines only - information is kept confidential).

When can a student apply?
Recruitment for the 2006-2007 Upward Bound program will start Mid-August and continue through the first part of September.
