From the depths of our hearts, we cannot say thank you enough for not only allowing your students to be a part of our family, but for also being an avid supporter of the Upward Bound program. It is the love and support that you show in your student's life that helps them to become successful students!
We want to take the opportunity to help make you aware of some very important topics of interest. If at any time you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 1-800-804-9440. We love hearing from our parents.

Attend College?
The Tennessee Board of Regents is the State
governing body for most all of the colleges and universities in Tennessee.
This organization helps in many ways with the functionality of the schools they
represent. One of the decisions this Board helps to make is the setting of
the high school class requirements to be admitted into one of their colleges
and/or universities. Please click here to view a detailed list of the high
school course requirements for admittance into college.

One astounding fact about students receiving a four year Bachelor's Degree is
that they are likely to make an average of $46,800 per year while a student with only a high school diploma is likely to make
$28,808 per year. This is a difference of almost $18,000. Not to

Is My Student's Involvement In Community Service That Important?
The answer to this question is YES! Many times the deciding factor for a scholarship may be
based on community service. In addition, community service teaches
students that we are all responsible for our community and we have the ability
to help those in the community in need.
Why Is My Student Required To Attend The Summer Program?
The
Upward Bound (UB) Summer Program is the largest component to the Upward Bound
program. The Summer Program has several goals, including:
- Helping to give students the ability to experience first hand the "college lifestyle" in a safe environment
- Preparing students for their next year of high school by providing relevant classes to help them excel above their classmates
- Providing student the opportunity to learn a new subject they may not have the opportunity to explore in high school
- Students who attend the Upward Bound Summer Program (especially their first year in the program) are more likely to remain involved with the Upward Bound program the following year. Students who miss a summer miss the opportunity to bond and connect with classmates from all over the East Tennessee region
