
The Tennessee Board of Regents (Website) is the Tennessee state governing body for postsecondary education (except for the University of Tennessee schools). The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) help to determine the minimum requirements to be admitted into the institutions they represent. Here are the minimum requirements for the 2006-2007 Academic Year.

| Algebra I | 1 unit |
| Algebra II | 1 unit |
| Geometry | 1 unit |
| Natural/Physical Sciences | 2 units - 1 must be in a laboratory course (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) |
| US History | 1 unit |
| Social Studies | 1 unit |
| Foreign Languages | 2 concurrent units |
| Visual/Performing Arts | 1 unit |
Please note that these are only minimum requirements for acceptance to college. Upward Bound encourages students to take as many math and science classes that are available. In addition, Upward Bound also challenges students to take as many AP/Honor classes as possible.
