ETSU ACCENT
-
"East Tennessee State University" is usually shortened to "ETSU" for space
reasons.
-
When writing an article or notice for Accent, be as brief as possible!
We try to include as much information as we can from all academic and administrative
areas of this busy, energetic university, and space is often tight!
-
We often must omit words, sentences and even paragraphs to make an item
fit, so write in the "inverted pyramid" format (with the most important
information in the first paragraphs, gradually working down to the least
important information in the last paragraphs) to help ensure that something
you definitely want included is not inadvertently omitted.
-
On "Faculty/Staff Activities" items, put simply the faculty or staff member's
full professional name (specify whether or not the person holds a doctoral
degree) and department or office before the description of the activity.
-
Refer to the guidelines for news releases/publications above for pointers
on capitalization, editorializing, times and dates, states and cities,
numbers, acronyms and more. See also the "ETSU Accent" entry in the
News Bureau section of the University Relations Web pages.
