ETSU Flag

The ETSU flag created in 1968 is white with a border formed by the words "East Tennessee State University."  In 1989, a new flag bearing the ETSU mountain logo in Navy Blue on a White background, and bordered by an Old Gold fringe, was recommended.  This logo flag, minus the fringe for outdoor exhibition, is intended to be flown on campus while the original flag will be displayed only during formal occasions.

ETSU flags are appropriately displayed along with flags of both the United States of America and the State of Tennessee.  These banners should be treated in the same way and given the same respect as both the American and state flags.

The appropriate protocol indicates that the university's flags should be used in conjunction with the Tennessee flag and displayed beside it.  All other protocols governing the use and display of the United States flag would apply.

Questions relating to either ETSU flag should be directed to the University Relations Office.
