A native of Elizabethton, Joe came to the Office of University Relations in 1992 as a Student
Assistant and Intern and in 1994 began working as a Graduate Assistant. He was promoted to a
Writer/Editor in the summer of 1996.
His duties include editing the College of Medicine alumni newsletter, DOCTRINE; the College of
Medicine faculty/staff newsletter, COMmunity; and the ETSU research magazine, EXPLORATIONS. He
also prepares news releases and feature stories and assists with the coordination of special
events. Joe received his B.S. degree in mass communications in 1994 and is in the process of
completing the requirements for an M.A. in English.
His favorite hobbies include racquetball, playing darts, cooking, movies, NASCAR, and spending
time with his two dogs, Snoopy and Peedie. Joe has a twin brother, Josh, who also resides in
Elizabethton.
