CHAMPVA Certification

In order to extend CHAMPVA benefits to certain dependent students attending East Tennessee State University (ETSU).  Certification of full-time enrollment must be submitted by ETSU.  Student status for CHAMPVA purposes is established based on educational institutional terms for up to one year. Full-time enrollment at ETSU requires a minimum of 12 semester hours per semester in any academic calendar year which begins with the fall semester.  It is important to notify the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) Health Administration Center (HAC) of any change in student status such as withdrawal or change from full-time to part-time status.  (Breaks, holidays and summer enrollments* are not considered interruptions in attendance and do not constitute an interruption in CHAMPVA eligibility.)

Students seeking an enrollment certification should submit their enrollment certification form from the USDVA HAC to ETSU Veterans Affairs.  As an alternative, students may request a verification of enrollment letter on ETSU letterhead from the Office of the Registrar but indicate the veteran's file number on the request for the letter.  A request form is available upon request in 101 Burgin E. Dosset Hall.

For further information, visit the CHAMPVA web site.
