Jim Harlan, AFG Industries Chair of Excellence

Jim Harlan joined Dr. Robert R. Bell, President Emeritus, Professor of Management Emeritus, Tennessee Tech University, Dr. R. Nat Natarajan, W. Eugene Mayberry Professor of Management and Associate Dean, College of Business, Tennessee Tech University and Dr. C. Allen Gorman, Chair, Department of Management, Information Systems, and Quantitative Methods, University of Alabama-Birmingham at the Society for Advancement of Management's 2023 International Business Conference to discuss the works of F.W. Taylor as the Father of Scientific Management.  The speakers brought unique perspectives from Operations Management, Information Systems/Management Science, Quality/Baldrige Performance Excellence, and Sustainable Strategic Management and explored how many of the concepts of "Taylorism" are timeless and impactful in today's turbulent external environment.  The Conference celebrated the 110th anniversary year of the Taylor Society, the predecessor organization to SAM.
