FULL-TIME STUDENT


SCHOLARSHIPS

McInturff TN/VA Scholars Award

  • ETSU at Kingsport Allandale
  • Amount: $1500 will be awarded to one student to assist with tuition for two semesters ($750 each semester).
  • Date Awarded: The McInturff TN/VA Scholars Award - Kingsport will be awarded in July and paid out in Fall and Spring Semesters.
  • Who Can Apply: Any incoming freshman who has been designated a TN/VA Scholar from the previous three years graduating class.

Requirements:

  • The student must be a full-time ETSU at Kingsport Allandale only student for the upcoming Fall Semester.
  • The students status must be degree seeking.
  • The student should submit an application (include a separate page that addresses Award Criteria below): 

Award Criteria: The McInturff TN/VA Scholar Award - Kingsport will be based on several criteria. First, the scholarship committee is particularly interested in a student's extracurricular activities. This could consist of community service activities, church activities, athletics, school functions, etc. In addition, your letter should include your education goals, such as your intended college major, possible career options, etc.

Megan Danielle Smith Scholarship

A resident of Church Hill, Megan Smith was a 2008 graduate of Volunteer High School and had just completed her freshman year at ETSU at Kingsport Allandale at the time of her death in 2009.

  • ETSU at Kingsport Allandale
  • Amount: $1000 will be awarded to one student to assist with tuition for two semesters ($500 each semester).
  • Date Awarded: The Megan Danielle Smith Scholarship will be awarded in June and paid out in Fall and Spring Semesters.
  • Who Can Apply: Any incoming freshman from Volunteer High School taking ALL classes at the Kingsport Allandale campus.

Requirements:

  • The student must be a full-time ETSU at Kingsport Allandale only student for the upcoming Fall Semester.
  • The students status must be degree seeking (e.g. not current Dual Enrollment student).
  • The student should submit an application and write a letter stating why he or she is a good candidate for the scholarship.

Award Criteria: The Megan Danielle Smith Scholarship will be awarded in May to a graduating Student from Volunteer High School who registers and attends ETSU at Kingsport as a full-time student.

Maude Stewart Smyre Memorial Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applications should be submitted to the ETSU at Kingsport Scholarship Committee by July 20 of each  year; however, that Committee may make awards at any time during the year.
  2. Entering freshmen as well as current ETSU students, transfer students, or non-traditional students shall be eligible for the award.
  3. The Chair of the ETSU at Kingsport Scholarship Committee will send award letters to the recipients. Unless that Committee gives special approval, the awards will be one-half for the fall semester and one-half for the spring semester. The same student may receive the award for four (4) consecutive years, but must reapply each year.

CRITERIA

  1. Applicants must be enrolled as students at either the ETSU at Kingsport Allandale or Downtown Kingsport campus.
  2. Applicants must be from Scott County, Virginia; Hawkins County, Tennessee; or Sullivan County, Tennessee.
  3. In the judgment of the ETSU at Kingsport Scholarship Committee, the recipient must be a “deserving” student.
  4. Applicants should address the following in a written or “Word” document format:
    1. Personal attribute or accomplishment(s) that sets you apart from other applicants.
    2. Impact of scholarship on education, or family/personal circumstance.
    3. Description of participated extracurricular activities and/or community service.

Kingsport College Foundation Pearl Sue Lady Scholarship Endowment

 The purpose of the Kingsport College Foundation Pearl Sue Lady Scholarship Endowment is to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students enrolled in classes at East Tennessee State University at either the Kingsport Allandale or Kingsport Downtown campus.

 This endowment is established by the members of the ETSU at Kingsport Advisory Council and according to the By-Laws of the Kingsport College Foundation.  The Kingsport College Foundation was created in order to assist and support an institution of higher learning within the Kingsport area by providing scholarships to worthy students using such educational facility.

 AWARD DESCRIPTION

 Scholarships shall be awarded by the ETSU at Kingsport Scholarship Committee. That Committee shall award a minimum of $4,000 per year up to a maximum not to exceed the cost of in-state tuition, depending on the funds available.

 ELIGIBILITY 

 Applications should be submitted to the ETSU at Kingsport Director for consideration by the Scholarship Committee by July 20 of each year.
Preference shall be given to a current ETSU full-time, undergraduate student who meets the criteria listed below.

 CRITERIA

 The ETSU at Kingsport Scholarship Committee shall consider the following criteria in awarding scholarships:

  1.  Applicants must meet all requirements for regular admission to ETSU.
  2. Student must be enrolled at either the ETSU Kingsport Allandale or the ETSU Downtown Kingsport campus.
  3. Student must be a full-time ETSU at Kingsport only student who has attended one previous academic semester at East Tennessee State University.
  4. Student must have applied for federal financial aid at least one month prior to the application deadline.
  5. Student must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  6. Student’s status must be that of a degree-seeking student.
  7. Applicants should address the following in a written or “Word” document format:
    1. Personal attribute or accomplishment(s) that sets you apart from other applicants.
    2. Impact of scholarship on education, or family/personal circumstance.
    3. Description of participated extracurricular activities and/or community service.

       

The Kingsport College Foundation Pearl Sue Lady Scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who has the greatest financial need, as determined by the free application for federal financial aid (FAFSA) and the ETSU Office of Financial Aid.  In the event of equal need, the candidate with the highest overall GPA will be selected as the scholarship recipient.

Part Time Kingsport Students


The Kingsport College Foundation Stewart McCorkle Scholarship Endowment

The purpose of the Kingsport College Foundation Stewart McCorkle Scholarship Endowment is to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students enrolled in classes at East Tennessee State University at either the Kingsport Allandale or Kingsport Downtown campus.  

This endowment is established by the members of the ETSU at Kingsport Advisory Council and according to the By-Laws of the Kingsport College Foundation. The Kingsport College Foundation was created in order to assist and support an institution of higher learning within the Kingsport area by providing scholarships to worthy students using such educational facility.

 AWARD DESCRIPTION

 Scholarships shall be awarded by the ETSU at Kingsport Scholarship Committee. That Committee shall award a minimum of $1,500 per year up to a maximum not to exceed the cost of in-state part-time tuition, depending on the funds available.

 ELIGIBILITY

 1. Applications should be submitted to the ETSU at Kingsport Director for consideration by the Scholarship Committee by July 20 of each year.

2. Preference shall be given to a current ETSU part-time, undergraduate student who meets the criteria listed below.

 CRITERIA

 The ETSU at Kingsport Scholarship Committee shall consider the following criteria in awarding scholarships:

  1. Applicants must meet all requirements for regular admission to ETSU.
  2. Student must be enrolled at either the ETSU Kingsport Allandale or the ETSU Downtown Kingsport campus.
  3. Student must be a part-time ETSU at Kingsport only student, not taking more than 11 credit hours, and who has attended at least one previous academic semester at East Tennessee State University.
  4. Student must not qualify for Federal Financial Aid as determined by the ETSU Office of Financial Aid.
  5. Student must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  6. Student’s status must be that of a degree-seeking student.
  7. Student must submit an application as well as a letter stating why he/she thinks he/she should receive this scholarship. The letter should include a background of work experience, references from current employers, family obligations, previous education, career goals, and intended college major.
  8. Recipient may re-apply each year that the above criteria are met up to six consecutive years or until they obtain a Bachelor’s degree, whichever occurs first.

 The Kingsport College Foundation Stewart McCorkle Scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who has the highest overall GPA. In the event of equal overall GPA, the candidate with the highest GPA for the previous semester will be selected as the scholarship recipient.

Kingsport College Foundation Lighthouse Scholarship Endowment
