JOHNSON CITY – The East Tennessee State University Department of Music’s Opening Fall Bands Concert will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center’s Martha Street Culp Auditorium.
The ETSU Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will present a program that includes Erickson’s “Toccata for Band,” Ticheli’s “Amazing Grace,” Schuman’s “George Washington Bridge,” Gillingham’s “Be Thou My Vision,” Young’s “Tempered Steel” and Mahr’s “Hymn and Celebration.
They will perform under the direction of ETSU Director of Bands Dr. Christian Zembower and guest conductor Dr. Anthony Pursell, assistant director of bands at Kansas State University.
Admission is free, with a freewill donation asked to go toward costs for the ETSU Wind Ensemble’s April 2009 performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
