Monday, October 13, 2008JOHNSON CITY — Dr. Murray Anthony, professor of accountancy in East Tennessee State University’s College of Business and Technology, has been named the Blackburn, Childers and Steagall Faculty Fellow.
Blackburn, Childers and Steagall, founded in 1961, has offices in Johnson City, Kingsport and Greeneville and is staffed by 80 employees who are experts in auditing, taxes and consulting. The firm established the monetary fellowship to encourage and support a “highly competent and productive” faculty member by providing a five-year commitment with a stipend each year, allowing the recipient to concentrate on research.
Anthony joined the ETSU faculty in 1972. Teaching has been his highest priority, with classes in financial and non-profit entity accounting as his specialty. Among his research interests are accounting, finance, taxation, and, most recently, personal financial planning issues.
A licensed Certified Public Accountant, Anthony holds a Ph.D. in accountancy from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
