Tuesday, October 14, 2008JOHNSON CITY – The annual “Luncheon Under the Tent” and reunions for the graduating classes of 1968, ’78, ’88 and ’98 are this Saturday (Oct. 18) in conjunction with East Tennessee State University’s Homecoming celebration and its “Buccaneer BASH (Bringing All Students Home)” festivities.
From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the Buccaneer BASH offers games, music, exhibits and other events at the Amphitheatre adjacent to the D.P. Culp University Center. In case of rain, the Buc BASH will move inside the Culp Center.
The “Luncheon Under the Tent” runs from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and is the traditional Homecoming meal for alumni, students, ETSU employees and the general public. Participants catch up with old friends and enjoy the sounds of several musical groups as they eat. Members of the reunion classes have a chance to view memory books, yearbooks and other memorabilia on display, and have special reserved seating during the luncheon. Children always enjoy the Kids Zone featuring a train, clown and face-painting, which continues until 3 p.m.
The luncheon menu includes chicken kabobs, chicken taquitos, Philly cheese steak sandwiches, barbecue pork sandwiches, corn dogs, French fries, caramel apples, cookies, brownies, bottled water and soda. Participants may buy three-, five- or 10-item punch cards (one punch equals one food item or beverage) for $4, $6 or $12 in advance or pay $6, $8 or $14 at the event.
