Friday, October 17, 2008JOHNSON CITY—In an effort to enable the East Tennessee State University community to interact more successfully with the Hispanic population in the region and on campus, the ETSU Office of Human Resources is offering beginning conversational Spanish to faculty and staff.
The popular class has been offered several times in recent years and meets once a week during the academic semester. Megan Gonzalez Szabo, an adjunct instructor at the university, teaches the class.
“In an increasingly globalized society, we cannot focus ourselves just on our little nook and cranny of the world,” Szabo says. “You never know the opportunities that can come your way if you can communicate in Spanish and/or any other foreign language.”
