Guest artist Diba Alvi to perform in ‘Coloratura’

Friday, November 07, 2008JOHNSON CITY – “Coloratura,” a program of songs by Purcell, Puccini, Debussy, Foster, Wolf and Turina, will be performed by soprano Diba Alvi at East Tennessee State University Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Mathes Hall.

This free public event is sponsored by the ETSU Department of Music.

Alvi most recently performed the roles of Adele in “Die Fledermaus” and Miss Warblewell in “The Impresario” with the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh – both of which she will soon reprise – and appeared in the Pittsburgh Opera’s concert, “Samuel Ramey and Friends.” She has also held roles with opera theaters in Florida, Ohio, Michigan and New York.

Alvi will be accompanied by Tim Reynolds on piano and Bach performing artist Dr. David Champouillon, ETSU professor of trumpet and director of Jazz Studies, on piccolo trumpet.
