Wednesday, November 19, 2008JOHNSON CITY – Slocumb Galleries at East Tennessee State University is hosting exhibitions by two student candidates for the bachelor of fine arts degree in the Department of Art & Design.
Works by BreeAnn Barlow are on display through this Friday (Nov. 21), in Ball Hall. Entitled “The Space Between,” Barlow’s works on paper “draw an interaction between sleeping forms and abstract spaces” to represent “that space of time where one’s mind sets the stage for everything (yet) to come, or is breaking down the set after the performance.”
“From Anhedonia to Elysium: A Study in Fabulosity” is a jewelry metalsmithing exhibition by student Rebecca Beals that will be on view the week of Nov. 24-28. An opening reception with light refreshments will be held Monday, Nov. 24, from 5-7 p.m.
A 2003 graduate of Science Hill High School, Beals has attended ETSU since 2005, having previously studied at Texas A&M; and Baylor University. She intends to graduate with her B.F.A. this December, then pursue a master of fine arts degree.
