Friday, January 23, 2009JOHNSON CITY – “New Eyes for Hubble Space Telescope: Servicing Mission 4” is the topic of a free public Star Party/Observatory Open House to be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at East Tennessee State University’s Harry D. Powell Observatory.
Scheduled from 8-10 p.m., the event features a brief discussion led by Dr. Mark Giroux, ETSU associate professor of Physics and Astronomy, followed by an opportunity to view celestial objects through the observatory’s telescopes. Giroux and other ETSU astronomers will be available to assist visitors and answer questions.
The Powell Observatory is located above the ETSU campus off Narrow Lane. In case of rain or cloud cover, the event will be canceled.
