Friday, February 06, 2009JOHNSON CITY — The annual Head 2 Toe sale of prom attire will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Girls Incorporated, 227 Library Lane (off E. Market Street, behind Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church).
Head 2 Toe, now in its seventh year, strives to enhance the overall self-image of teen girls by providing prom attire, personalized service, and a shopping experience in a retail setting. Girls who might otherwise find attending the prom beyond their reach can purchase a low-cost formal dress, shoes, and accessories. The proceeds of the sale benefit Girls Inc. of Johnson City/Washington County.
During the past six years, Head 2 Toe has dressed more than 400 girls and raised some $8,800 for Girls Inc. Over 75 volunteers set up the “store” and give personalized service during the sale.
Head 2 Toe is sponsored by the ETSU Department of Family and Consumer Sciences and the ETSU Women’s Resource Center.
TJ Furchess of Girls Inc. developed the Head 2 Toe program while she was a merchandising student at East Tennessee State University.
