MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test)

The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) is the entrance exam required for both MD (allopathic) and DO (osteopathic) medical schools.


The 4 sections covered:


  • Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems

  • Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems

  • Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior

  • Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills


The 7 skills assessed:


  • Knowledge of scientific concepts and principles
  • Scientific reasoning and problem solving
  • Reasoning about the design and execution of research
  • Data-based and statistical reasoning
  • Reading comprehension
  • Reasoning within the text
  • Reasoning beyond the text
