Michael Cody joined the ETSU English faculty in 2001. He specializes in American literature
from its beginnings to the middle of the nineteenth century, focusing particularly
on Charles Brockden Brown and Nathaniel Hawthorne. In addition to teaching undergraduate
and graduate courses in early American literature, he teaches Native American literature,
detective fiction, and postcolonial literature. Dr. Cody is the author of Charles Brockden Brown and the Literary Magazine: Cultural Journalism in the Early
American Republic (McFarland, 2004), and he is currently co-editor of The Literary Magazine and Other Writings, 1803-1807, Volume 3 of Collected Writings of Charles Brockden Brown, forthcoming from Bucknell University Press.
