International Women's Day 2022
“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.” (internationalwomensday.com)

Tuesday, March 8 is International Women's Day—a holiday proclaimed by the U.N. in
1975 but celebrated in many parts of the world since the first decade of the 20th
century. Each year, students in WGSS 2020, Women in Global Perspective, celebrate
it by researching the work done by and for women through international NGOs (nongovernmental
organizations). Some NGOs on this year’s list are worldwide in membership and activities,
while others are more localized. Some focus on a single issue, but many take on multiple
concerns. Among these concerns are equality in employment and education, reproductive
justice and health, protection from violence and harassment, equality for gender minorities,
environmental protection, and the overall advancement of human rights. Witness a world
of activism!
