"Music is as wonderful and diverse as humanity itself. As a pianist and musician, I strive for a broad range of musical influences and to understand each and every style as art on its own terms. Most don't mention the writing of J.S. Bach and the polyrhythmic counterpoint of a drum circle in the same sentence, but both amaze me. Not only are they a testament to the greatness of human achievement—they both contain sheer creative joy. My holistic approach to teaching and playing starts with this joy and aims to share it."
Gregory Wang currently serves as music theory faculty for the Indiana University Young Pianists and Summer Piano Academy. He is the former head of piano at Franklin College of Indiana as well as teaching assistant to renowned pianist Menahem Pressler of the Beaux Arts Trio. When not seeking out opportunities to concertize in jazz, gospel, harpsichord, or electric bass, he also serves as an audio and video engineer for classical and jazz recording, having worked for hundreds of soloists, festivals, small ensembles, and orchestras.
