Celebrated as “humorous” by the Knoxville News Sentinel as well as “charmingly demented” and “revelatory… magical” by KC Metropolis, Sean Donovan has been a member of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra since 2013 and joined the faculty of East Tennessee State University in 2016. He has performed with the Nashville Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, and Huntsville Symphony among others and can be heard on the “Me And The Machine” and “Theory 8” record labels. Sean has additionally served as an adjunct faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University and as a member of the faculty at the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts.
A Tennessee native, Sean received degrees at Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He was originally primarily active as a chamber musician, winning regional and state awards through the MTNA organization and was a national finalist in the Coleman Chamber Competition. He has been a concerto soloist in works of Mozart, Haydn, and James Stephenson.
