Rachel Milligan Helton, mezzo soprano, is a native of Canton, OH. She currently resides in Abingdon, VA. Helton holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. She is also an adjunct professor at Emory & Henry College and Milligan University.
At ETSU she teaches applied voice, class voice, and diction. Helton also owns and manages the Bristol Academy of Music.
Helton's operatic performance credits include, the title role in Carmen, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, and roles in Albert Herring, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Magic Flute, Cosi fan tutte, The Barber of Seville, Susannah, and Faust. Helton has performed with Asheville Lyric Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Central City Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Undercroft Opera, and Indiana University Opera Theater. Helton's concert credits include Verdi's Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, A Child of Our Time by Michael Tippett, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Durufle's Requiem.
