Collaborative Pianist

Ann Lavender is a pianist, collaborative artist, teacher, and vocal coach with a colorful musical career. Her accompanying career began at age twelve with her church youth choir, and since then she has worked in nearly all genres of music from opera to country, musical theater to bluegrass, both as an instrumentalist and a vocalist. Now primarily a classical collaborative artist, Ann enjoys rehearsing and performing with various ETSU ensembles as well as collaborating with students, faculty, and guest artists in recital. Her formal education took place at East Carolina University, the University of Tennessee, and East Tennessee State University, but her vast experience in a variety of musical styles has made all the difference in developing her versatile collaborative skills.

In addition to over a decade of affiliation with ETSU, Ann also teaches K-8 music at St. Mary's School in Johnson City and is active as an accompanist with ensembles and performers throughout the region.
