Mason Van Horn is the Graduate Assistant for the Choral Area. Van Horn, originally from Kingston, Tennessee, has lived in the Tri-Cities since the fall of 2014 when he began his journey as a new music major right here at ETSU. Van Horn received a Bachelor of Music degree from the East Tennessee State University, concentrating in vocal performance where he studied with Vocal Pedagogue and ETSU Opera Conductor, Karen Smith. While at ETSU, Van Horn sang with ETSU’s Chorale, Men’s Choir, and student led acapella group, The Swashbucklers. Since graduating in the spring of 2017, Van Horn has been teaching voice, piano, musical theatre, and music theory at Blair Academy for the Arts.
Mr. Van Horn maintains an active private studio through Blair Academy, but he is eager for his next step at ETSU. Van Horn is currently enrolled in the M.Ed Librarianship program through ETSU and plans to complete his degree in the spring of 2022. He is active in the community and with his church family, and desires to teach the arts of music and reading for many years to come.
