Dr. Heather Dye joined ETSU in August 2015. She has experience in teaching policy, research, cultural diversity, and field seminar classes. She came to ETSU from Highlands Community Services Board where she was the Substance Use Services Manager and practiced both mental health and substance abuse clinical work for over seven years; she has been a clinician for 12 years. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the state of Virginia. She completed her Ph. D. in Social Work in July 2014. She has a strong clinical background with an array of specializations in best practice treatment modalities that include: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Intensely Trained Dialectical Behavioral Therapist (DBT) for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) for substance abuse, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) are just a few. She specializes in eating disorders and has currently published several articles regarding society’s influence on body image. She is currently working on several book chapters regarding the effects of early childhood trauma and burnout among mental health workers.
