Carolyn Rochelle is a Lecturer of Economics in the Department of Economics and Finance at East Tennessee State University.
Ms. Rochelle was raised in the small farming community of Belvidere in middle Tennessee. After graduating from Franklin County High School, she attended Tennessee Tech, receiving a BS in Mathematics. She was awarded an MBA from ETSU in 1989 where she received the Outstanding Graduate Business Student Award.
Ms. Rochelle has taught at ETSU since 1990. Prior to coming to ETSU, she worked in various management positions at South Central Bell and United Telephone (Sprint). At ETSU, Ms. Rochelle has been nominated multiple times for the Outstanding Teaching Award in the College of Business and Technology. She is co-sponsor of the Economics Club and organizes the programming for the annual Economics Club trip to Washington, D.C.
Currently, Ms. Rochelle teaches Quantitative Methods of Business I and II (Business Statistics) and History of Economic Concepts.
Ms. Rochelle and her husband Steve reside in Kingsport, TN. Steve, a retired mechanical engineer from Eastman Chemical Company, is currently teaching part time at ETSU. They are the parents of two children, both of whom reside in Alabama. Stephen is a computer engineer, and Katherine, a graduate of ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine, is a pediatric resident.
Over the years, Ms. Rochelle has been active in various community organizations including Hope Haven, PTA, Sonrise Emmaus, and church activities. She enjoys traveling, sailing, swimming, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
