CPT Caldwell enlisted in the United States Army in 1997 and served at Fox Army Health Center Redstone Arsenal, AL. from 1997 until 1999. In May 1999 he transferred to 226th Medical Logistics (MEDLOG) Battalion in Pirmasens, Germany. While stationed at 226th MEDLOG he deployed on KFOR1 from July thru December of 1999. He received an honorable discharge in 2002, and served as a DA Civilian at the United States Army Medical Material Command- Europe (USAMMCE) from 2002 until 2005. CPT Caldwell graduated and received his commission from The University of Alaska – Fairbanks in 2007. He attended Ordnance Officer Basic Course at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD., where he competed for and was selected to attend Phase I Explosive Ordnance Disposal School at Redstone Arsenal, AL. Following successful completion of Phase I, CPT Caldwell attended and graduated Phase II Explosive Ordnance Disposal School at Eglin Air Force Base, FL. in July 2009. CPT Caldwell graduated the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course in May 2013.

He served as Platoon Leader, 789th Ordnance Company (EOD) at Fort Benning, GA., and deployed as an EOD Platoon Leader to Al Kut, Iraq from 2009-2010. Upon redeployment he assumed command of the 789th Ordnance Company (EOD), and deployed as Commander 789th Ordnance Company to Helmand Province, Afghanistan from 2011-2012. Following the successful command, CPT Caldwell served as assistant Operations Officer at the 71st Ordnance Group (EOD), Fort Carson, CO. from June 2013 to October 2015. He then served as the Officer in Charge of the Afghanistan Captured Material Exploitation (ACME) Laboratory, at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan from November 2015 to July 2016.

CPT Caldwell’s education includes a Bachelor's Degree in History from The University of Alaska— Fairbanks.

CPT Caldwell’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal with one bronze service star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with one bronze service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 3, Kosovo NATO Medal. He is authorized to wear the Expert Field Medical Badge, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Senior Badge.
