Mr. Cox entered the Army from Texas in 1981, enlisting as an Infantry Soldier. He served in Korea and Ft. Hood before joining the Army Reserve in Dallas, Texas in 1986. He received his commission through ROTC from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1994, commissioned as an Intelligence Officer and branch detailed to the Chemical Corps. He served as the Battalion Chemical Officer for 2-69 Armor at Ft. Benning, GA and as the Personnel Officer for the U.S. Army Infantry School, Ft. Benning, GA, before joining the Tennessee Army National Guard in 2000.
He served as Platoon Leader and Company Commander of the 278th ACR Chemical Company in Oak Ridge, Tennessee deploying twice with the Regiment in multiple assignments. He served as the Recruiting Operations Officer for Mercer University in Macon, Georgia from 2008 until becoming the Recruiting Operations Officer for ETSU in March of 2014.
