CPT Mark Vines comes from the Tennessee National Guard serving as our MS I and II instructor. An ROTC graduate from University Tennessee at Chattanooga, CPT Vines brings a lot of relative experience having been a cadet himself and hopes to pass on his knowledge and experience to ROTC to better prepare our cadets.
After Commissioning in December of 2010 as a 2nd Lieutenant, his first duty assignment was Rockwood, TN as a Tank Platoon Leader with Hammer Troop, 2nd Squadron 278 Armored Cavalry Regiment were much of his professional development occurred. He attended the Armor Basic Officer Leaders Course in Ft Benning, GA graduating in the top 20% and making the Commandant’s List and graduating from the Tank Commander’s Course in Boise, Idaho. 3 years later He would be promoted to 1st Lieutenant and become the Company Executive Officer for that same unit for another 3 years serving 4 different Commanders.
In 2017 he was finally promoted to Captain and served as the Squadron Maintenance officer and the S4 Logistics officer for 4th Squadron 278 ACR in Mt Carmel, TN for a whole year. During that year, CPT Vines assisted his unit to go through the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin California for a month long war game and later go to Port Arthur Texas as a Unit Movement Officer overseeing the 278’s first deployment of vehicles being shipped to Poland.
CPT Vines’ hobbies include Running, Tough Mudders, and watching movies.
