Dean's Message

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Clemmer College of Education at East Tennessee State University. The mission of the College of Education at ESTU is to educate competent, ethical, and socially responsible professionals who are committed to improving the human condition through enhancing teaching and learning, counseling, physical and mental health, sport science/recreation and leadership. To that end, the Clemmer College of Education has a unique and attractive academic model that consist of six academic departments, a University School, a K-12 laboratory school, three Centers of Excellence (Early Childhood Learning & Development, Mathematics & Science Education and Sport Science & Coach Education), six undergraduate and 16 graduate degree programs that include multiple doctoral programs.  The College programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), Tennessee Department of Education, Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Education Programs (CACREP) and the National Association of Sport Physical Education (NASPE).

As Dean for the College, my leadership style is grounded in transparency, accountability, mutual trust, integrity and good faith.  My vision for the Clemmer College of Education is to continue to be recognized as 1 of the Top Colleges of Education in the State of Tennessee and the United States and to remain an innovative leader while transforming the lives of the students that we serve. My immediate vision and commitment is to prepare highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students through the development, administration, supervision and evaluation of the programs that are offered in the College of Education.
