About the Conference: Learn, dine and play with us for two days in the beautiful "Breaks Interstate Park" in Southwest Virginia while it's ablaze with fall splendor. Mornings will be dedicated to rural-health-focused medical education, and the afternoons and evenings will be spent in group activities or quiet relaxation. Families are welcome to attend.

Target Audience: Primary care physicians practicing in, and residents training or considering practicing in the rural communities of SW VA and Central Appalachia.

Conference Objectives:

As a result of participating in this activity, the participant will be able to......

  • Discuss cultural issues that are distinct to coalfield Appalachia
  • Identify challenges and resources for patients with behavioral health needs
  • Discuss nutritional deficiencies and offer plausible solutions  
Fees and Cancellation Policy:  There is no cost to attend the conference, but advance registration is required. Due to the high demand and limited seats for this conference, it is requested that any cancellations be made one week prior to the conference (by September 15, 2015). There is no penalty for cancelling.
Accommodations and Meals:  A number of rooms are reserved for attendees at no cost. However, room reservations must be reserved by the attendee and confirmed with a credit card. To arrange for accommodations, call 276-865-4413. Please note: Registration for accommodations DO NOT occur when registration for attendance is completed.
Family and Child Care: Immediate family is invited to attend with the conference participant. For those families in which both parents are attending the educational sessions, child care will be made available. Mention your need for child care at the time you make arrangements for your accommodations.

 CME CME Credit:  Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
