About this Conference:
This conference will review the mechanisms of acute and chronic pain and discuss the most effective treatments.  In most cases of acute and chronic pain there are treatments that are more effective and have better outcomes than opioids.  This class will also address the brain changes that occur with opioid use that can lead to aberrant behavior and addiction.  It will educate providers on the most effective treatments of opioid use disorder.

Target Audience:
All health care professionals including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, dentists, and all other providers requiring opioid prescribing credits.

Overall Conference Objectives:
As a result of attending this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify the mechanisms of pain and their impact on perception of pain
  • Improve understanding the effectiveness of non-opioid treatments for pain
  • Describe the current state of controlled substance abuse in TN and discuss recent legislative approaches to reduce prescription drug abuse in TN

Registration fees are refundable less a $50.00 administrative fee, for cancellations received in writing a minimum of 14 days prior to the activity date. Refunds are not provided when the registration fee is $50.00 or less, or when a cancellation request is received less than 14 days prior to the start of the activity.

ETSU Quillen College of Medicine reserves the right to cancel CME activities. If an activity is cancelled, registrants will receive a full refund.
