About this Conference:
This conference is a medical forum to discuss opiate prescribing in the primary care setting, psychosocial issues with the primary care patient, the issue of patients being discharged due to opiates and/or seeing care outside of opioids, and access to care for those patients discharged from primary care and/or seeking treatment from opioid use.

Target Audience:
Physicians and all healthcare providers who prescribe opioids or care for patients who may be taking opioids.

Overall Conference Objectives:
As a result of attending this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe appropriate opiate prescribing guidelines and how to put them into practice
  • Understand alternative treatment modalities when discharging a patient from practice who has been on long term opioid use
  • Understand psychosocial factors involved when patients are abruptly removed from their level of care
