About this Conference:
This half-day conference will include a large group didactic session to present the clinical anatomy and evidence-based approaches to Paracentesis and Thoracentesis followed by three small group, hands-on, experiential sessions. Participants will observe and identify the relevant anatomy via prosections and virtual reality, demonstrate competency for these procedures on a simulated model via surgical reality donors prepared through the modified Thiel embalming method, and apply the skills and knowledge gained in a simulation lab scenario.

Physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and nurses

Overall Conference Objectives:
As a result of attending this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify relevant anatomy of the body wall and coelomic cavity
  • Demonstrate appropriate technique for evacuation of fluids from pleural and peritoneal spaces
  • Discuss the clinical aspects of pleural effusion, ascites, and pneumothorax

Cancellation Policy:
Registration fees are refundable less a $50.00 administrative fee, for cancellations received in writing a minimum of 14 days prior to the activity date. Refunds are not provided when the registration fee is $50.00 or less, or when a cancellation request is received less than 14 days prior to the start of the activity.

ETSU Quillen College of Medicine reserves the right to cancel CME activities. If an activity is cancelled, registrants will receive a full refund.
