I have found that I enjoy smaller more intimate environments where I am able to be involved and I know each person. When I attended UTK, I barely knew anyone and did not participate as much in discussion (as there was often not much discussion to begin with). However, when I attended Community Colleges in the military and afterward, I knew each classmate and was very involved. Quillen has the community, or family, environment that I enjoy. Even though I have a family life that is first, Quillen is becoming my second family. I know each person and will talk to someone else almost every day. Medical school is medical school. Being in an environment that cares about my needs and emphasizes my success is why I chose Quillen.
Juggling School and Family
My wife is the best. I start my day at 4:00 a.m. and usually begin studying by 5:00 a.m. I end my day at 5:00 p.m. and am home by 5:30. I am off on Saturdays and study again on Sunday. There are times I study less and weeks I study more.
Life Outside the Classroom
I spend a lot of time with the kids. My son plays sports so I will go to games sometimes twice a week.
Living in Northeast Tennessee
This area is beautiful, I think I will live here the rest of my life.
I was in the military for 5 years prior. Navy Electrician.
