Why Quillen
I thought the same question before I toured the Quillen campus. After visiting the campus and utilizing the "Ask the Student" page, I realized Quillen was right for me: the curriculum is clinically oriented, the small class size is ideal for learning, and there are numerous possible service projects (just to name a few!). All medical schools have positive aspects; the difference comes when you find a school that allows you to develop your best learning experiences and provides rewarding personal growth. As a Quillen student, we begin interacting with patients early in our education. These experiences foster our learning experiences by integrating studies with clinical involvement. We learn from top physicians that tailor treatment to each patient's needs.

Life Outside The Classroom
Life outside of the classroom is more limited than undergraduate school. I make a conscious effort daily/weekly to allot time out to spend doing the things that I enjoy. It keeps me productive and enjoying my studies.

Living in Northeast Tennessee
Johnson City's relaxing and tranquil atmosphere caters perfectly to medical students. For instance, during needed study breaks, I hike in the mountains with my dog and enjoy the nice weather. Over winter break, nearby ski resorts offer an escape away from studies and you can ski with classmates.

Words of Wisdom
Medical school requires more studying than you have ever done and it will be demanding. Talk to the students in the class above you. Inquire about changes they would make if they could relive their prior year. Learn from their mistakes, consider their advice, and learn what works best for you.

You are in medical school because you are determined and possess the strength to achieve the challenges, so continue striving and stay confident in your abilities.
