Why Quillen
I chose Quillen because it was the perfect fit for me being able to be back home close to my family and working in the community that I grew up in. Another aspect that drew me in is the tight knit community and the helpful attention the faculty is able to give to each individual.

Being a Quillen Student
As a Quillen student I find myself learning new things every day. It's great that I get to learn with motivated individuals that come from different backgrounds. Furthermore, faculty and staff are always very accommodating and ready to help wherever they can.

Juggling School and Family
Sometimes our schedules as medical students can become hectic, but it's always important to set aside time for our loved ones. For me, keeping contact with my family throughout the week helps to really keep me grounded. Just a quick meal or a phone conversation can be a nice break and opportunity to take a step back and reflect on everything that's been going on. It's always nice for me to stay in the loop of my family's lives. It is important to continue to grow as a person and a physician with your loved ones near you.

Life Outside the Classroom
Aside from activities in the clinic and the classroom, I also have many other things I enjoy doing. Many classmates and I play pick-up basketball about once a week and participate in the intramural league at ETSU. I also enjoy running the Tweetsie Trail and other paths here in the area. Furthermore, I am also an avid fan of superheroes and enjoy going to conventions with some of my classmates as well. Another thing I enjoy doing is reading; Saturday mornings are spent with a warm mug of coffee and a book.

Words of Wisdom
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.” -Wayne Gretzky - Michael Scott.  There are many opportunities to seize in life, not just medical school. Take a chance and put yourself out there because you may surprise yourself with all the great things you can accomplish and all the doors you can open.
