Quillen College of Medicine
More than 2100 doctors have graduated from Quillen College of Medicine. Graduates
of the medical school and its residency programs can be found in 49 states. Quality
matters at East Tennessee State University and that is one of the many reasons students
choose Quillen College of Medicine.
Small Class Size
All medical schools have classrooms, laboratories, research facilities, faculty, and so on, but it's what we do with and for our students during the four tough years they spend working through their training here that we think really makes the difference.
Quillen's small class size (72 students are admitted each year) allows for a 1:1 student
/ faculty ratio. Faculty members know students by name and are very interested in
the success of each student. They are able to devote extra time to students who need
help in mastering certain aspects of the curriculum. Furthermore, the small class
size fosters camaraderie among the students, which tends to promote a nurturing environment
rather than a competitive one.
At Quillen, diversity of people and thought is respected. People come first, are treated with dignity and respect, and are encouraged to achieve their full potential. Quillen College of Medicine actively seeks qualified applicants from all ethnic and minority groups and is committed to a diverse population in the school and the practice of medicine.
Quillen College of Medicine is fully committed to the belief that educational opportunities
should be made available to all eligible persons without regard to age, gender, color,
race, religion, national origin, disability, or veteran status. We are keenly aware
of the need for diversity among the health professions, and are sensitive to the societal
advantages of a diverse population of physicians.
True to our mission, more than 55% of Quillen graduates pursue careers in primary care medicine. Quillen provides a strong background in both the art and science of medicine, and graduates who wish to pursue advanced training in specialty areas have a high degree of success getting into the residency programs of their choice. Quillen graduates currently enjoy successful practice in nearly every medical specialty.
