ETSU to host inaugural Buccaneer Brawl
JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 26, 2019) – Gaming enthusiasts from East Tennessee State University and the community are invited to take part in the inaugural Buccaneer Brawl Super Smash Bros. Video Tournament and Gaming Festival.
This public event will take place Saturday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m.-11:55 p.m. at ETSU’s Millennium Center.
The day will feature tournaments in Smash Ultimate Doubles, Smash Ultimate Singles, Melee Singles and Melee Doubles. Participation is free for ETSU students; registration for non-ETSU students is $10.95 per person for singles competition and $5.48 per person for doubles competition. Prizes include a $1,000 pot bonus for Smash Ultimate Singles and a $500 pot bonus for Melee Singles. In addition, the top eight in Smash Ultimate Singles will receive a custom event-themed controller.
A variety of free side activities is also planned, including Dance Dance Revolution, Air Hockey, Hoop Shots, Mario Kart Wii and more.
Renowned gamers Mr. E and Sonido are slated to be in attendance, as is 16-year-old Rogersville native Thomas Hughes, aka Gyro, who is the top-ranked Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player in both Knoxville and the Tri-Cities, and fourth in Tennessee.
