E-mails asking for your username and/or password
If you receive an unsolicited e-mail asking you for your username and password, do NOT respond. ETSU will never send you an e-mail asking you for your username and password.
Passwords for all accounts must meet the following requirements:
- It must be at least 12 characters long
- It must contain characters from at least 3 of these 4 categories:
- Uppercase letters
- Lowercase letters
- It cannot contain your username, first, middle or last name. For departmental accounts, it cannot contain any parts of the display name.
- It cannot be one of the last 10 passwords that have been used on the account.
Passwords for new accounts
For new accounts, there is no default password. The password can be set over at https://www.etsu.edu/activate/. For new departmental accounts, you may contact the Help Desk to have the password set.
How to reset a password
If you're currently logged into a ETSU PC, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete on the keyboard. You'll find the Change Password option. Click on that. You'll be asked for the current password, the new password and to verify the new password. The new password must meet the requirements outlined above. When the password submission is successful, you'll be given a message saying that your password has been changed.
