The First Steps to Studying Abroad
Before you sign up, make sure you schedule enough time to:
Attend an interest session, this is important so you get all the important information you need.
Once you figure out what works best for your schedule, register for that interest session through Zoom (see buttons below).
Apply in the Study Abroad Portal prior to the deadline of the semester you are wanting to go abroad.
Whether you are new to study abroad or well versed in the opportunities available, our study abroad advisor is available to help you pick a program best suited to your goals and guide you through the application process - making your study abroad experience one of the most memorable, rewarding parts of your ETSU experience!
First Step: Interest Session
We are excited to help you begin your journey! The first step is to attend a Study Abroad interest session! This is where you will learn about programs, the application process, funding, courses available, health and safety, and so much more!
Signing up for Summer Abroad Interest Sessions (for students wanting to study abroad in the Summer):

Signing Up for Semester Abroad Interest Sessions (for students wanting to study abroad for a full semester in the Fall, Spring, or Academic Year):

Do our Interest Sessions not fit into your busy schedule? No worries! Please email email@example.com prior to the deadline of the semester you are wanting to study abroad, and we can create an additional session that will fit your schedule!
Please Note: You are REQUIRED to attend an interest session before you apply to a program through the ETSU Study Abroad Portal. However, if you are going to be going on an ETSU Faculty-Led trip it is not required as the faculty leader will likely have their own type of informational session.
What will I learn during an interest session?
Looking at the qualifications needed like your class standing, GPA, language requirements, and credit policies.

Discuss different types of programs for:
- Summer and Winter Terms (10 - 60 days)
- Semester Programs (Semester or Academic Year Abroad)
Cost and Scholarships
Estimated costs, financial aid, budgeting, fundraising opportunities, payment plans, deposits and billing, and scholarship opportunities such as:
- ETSU Study Abroad Scholarships
- Affiliated Organization Scholarships
- External Scholarships

How to Gain Course Credit
Information about filling out the Study Abroad Credit Approval (SACA) Form and things you should be discussing with your advisor about what courses/credits will transfer.
