Employees in this class are under close supervision. Work performed in receiving money, writing receipts, executing a variety of clerical work, and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Operates a cash drawer, cashes checks, issues receipts, and makes change as required.
Sorts, checks for completeness and mathematical accuracy, posts collections, and other fiscal and statistical records according to standard procedures.
Answers general information questions from students and faculty.
Issues bad-check notices.
Operates calculating machine, or other office machinery in the performance of routine clerical duties.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of monetary transactions.
Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Ability to learn clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed office routine.
Ability to work from a cash drawer, cash checks, issue receipts, and make change as required.
Ability to make arithmetic computations and tabulations accurately.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public, and other employees.
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience in clerical work.
