Data Entry Lead Operator

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in supervising and participating in the tasks involved in the activities of alpha-numeric data entry operations, and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Assigns and supervises work related to data entry operations.
Supervises and/or performs a variety of clerical tasks.
Instructs new employees in the established routines and procedures of machine operations and work details.
Plans the flow of work and initiates procedures in accordance with established plans and procedures.
Corrects error sheets and verifies entered data.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Knowledge of the principles and methods of supervision.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in the operation and care of data entry equipment.
Ability to perform a variety of responsible clerical tasks.
Ability to supervise and offer instructions to employees.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to satisfactorily perform on an alpha-numeric keypunch machine and/or on-line data entry terminal.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience in the operation of alpha-numeric keypunch and/or on-line data entry equipment.
