Employees in this class are under immediate supervision. Work performed in routine kitchen and/or dining room work, and performing related work as required. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Cleans, sorts, and washes vegetables, fruits, etc.

Aids in preparing simple foods and sets up serving line.

Washes dishes, pots, pans, and silverware.

Cleans kitchen, dining room, trays, food carts, and other kitchen equipment.

Assists on the serving line and places stock in the store rooms.

Performs other work as assigned. 

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of modern methods, materials, and equipment used in food service.

Ability to follow simple oral instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students and other employees. 

Recommended Qualifications

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Completion of the sixth grade. Applicant should possess a current health card issued by the County Public Health Department.
