Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in operating a cash drawer, writing receipts, maintaining responsibility for other cashiers, and performing related work as required. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains responsibility for overall cashiering work.

Operates a cash drawer.

Sorts, checks for completeness and mathematical accuracy, and posts collections according to standard procedures.

Operates calculating machine or other office machinery in the performance of routine clerical work.

Verify daily deposits and send deposits to bank.

Performs other work as assigned. 

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of monetary transactions.

Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.

Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

Ability to maintain responsibility for overall cashiering work.

Ability to work from a cash drawer, cash checks, issue receipts, and make change as required.

Ability to make arithmetic computations and tabulations accurately.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public and other employees. 

Recommended Qualifications

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience in clerical accounting work.
